1. Create short term goals that lead up to a long term goal. A long term goal is your ultimate destination, it’s where you want to arrive at. However, you also need to have short term goals consisting of specific actions/activities that you can take to move you closer to your destination.

Let’s say losing weight is your resolution. Then, write it down: “I resolve to lose eight pounds a month” for instance. It’s realistic, specific and achievable as we all know that a healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds a week. Once you have set your goal, stick to it. If you’re crystal clear about your goal, you won’t be sidetracked or lose focus by outrageous promises.

2. Once you have written down your New Year‘s resolutions, don’t tuck it away and locked in a drawer. I suggest you write them down on note cards and Post-It® sticky notes all around your house and work place. These will serve as friendly reminders and keep you on track. If you lock them in a drawer, you will tend to forget what you have written down after a while.

3. Find someone who have similar resolutions with you and enlist their help. Two friends with similar goals can keep each other accountable, sharing experiences and encouraging one another. You know there is somebody who shares the same struggles, it can help a great deal to motivate you to follow through your ultimate goals.

4. Never, ever give up! One of the most famous quoted speeches is from Winston Churchill when he visited Harrow School to hear the traditional songs he had sung there as a youth, as well as to speak to the students. “Never, ever give up!” he told the students.

See we all have setbacks in lives, we all made mistakes, we all falter at some point. But you should not succumb and let it stop you from attaining your goals. Don’t dwell on your past mistakes, learn from them, dwell in your present moments and take actions to move forward.

“Life is not about falling down; it is about getting up again.” ~ Vince Lombardi.

“Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall.” ~ Confucius.

5. Remember to give yourself small rewards when you have successfully accomplished a goal or mini-goal. However, break your goals down into smaller, more manageable chunks first. That way you can monitor and give yourself small rewards throughout the entire goal-getting process. This will keep you motivated and stay on track with your goals.

Happy Holidays!

Christmas Card Making Ideas – The Santa Card

As usual Christmas is approaching fast! Are you ready? Are you making your own Christmas cards this year? If so, you’ll need some Christmas card making ideas to speed things along… This article is all about creating a Christmas card with a Santa theme.

So you’ve chosen a Santa theme for your Christmas cards. This means you’re either going to need to be able to draw a Santa, or have a Santa rubber stamp or some stickers in your card making supplies kit, or get a card topper from a local craft shop.

A Santa card usually has more impact if it’s just his head on the card. However, you could have a full Santa, with his sleigh and reindeer – Especially Rudolph!

Making Your Own Card Topper
If you want to make your own Santa card topper for your card, you’ll want to get a piece of red card that is about two fifths of the size of your base card. This will be the backing for your card topper.

You’ll need some cotton wool (for his hair, beard and hat bobble), some red card (for his hat) and some skin colored card (for his face). You’ll also need a black felt pen to draw in the details of his face and some red ink and a sponge that you can use to give him rosy cheeks.

Cut out an oval of the skin colored card that is roughly half the size of your card and glue it sideways onto the middle of your card topper backing. (So the widest part is horizontal)

Next take the cotton wool and stick it above and below the oval, overlapping it to create his hair and beard. You can make his beard as long as you like, even having it going over the edge of your card topper. However, keep his hair relatively short, as you’re going to need to stick his hat on top of it.

Once you’ve done that, take your pen and draw in his eyes and nose. Next take your red ink and using the tip of your sponge, lightly dab some rosy cheeks just above his beard.

Now cut the base of a triangle out of the red card for his hat. Make it wide enough to fit over his hair, and tall enough to go just to the top of your card topper base. Finally using another small piece of cotton wool, create the bobble of his hat by sticking it just to the side of the red hat that you’ve put on your design.

Putting The Card Together
Take your newly created card topper and attach it to your card using sticky foam mounting blocks, on the top third of the card.

You can add a “Merry Christmas“, “Happy Holidays”, “Ho Ho Ho!” or any other sentiment you want to the bottom half of the card to finish it off.

Now you have your Santa card ready to go! Have fun making your Christmas cards this year!
