It’s Christmas again, and you’re looking at the stacks of decorations you put away last January. It can seem like quite a challenge, especially if you don’t think you’re very good when it comes to decorating. But Christmas decor is something that will definitely get you in the Christmas spirit. With the tips below, you’ll be feeling Christmas cheer in no time.
First, take a good look around your house or apartment. There are a lot of places where a spot of Christmas decor will work wonders. There are the obvious places, like your fireplace mantal, and putting lights along your rooftop, but don’t forget about your stairs, your bathroom and yes, even the kitchen!
When you’re thinking about decorating your stairs, the first thought that probably comes to mind is winding a garland or a length of greenery around the bannister. To add a bit of flare, find a battery operated string of Christmas lights, and twine that in around your garland or greens. Another nice touch is to place small pots of poinsettias along the edge of alternating steps. (If you have animals, however, be wary about poinsettias, as they have poisonous parts.)

Putting a Christmas wreath on your front door is an easy festive touch, but don’t forget that wreaths look good inside your home, too. Mistletoe is lovely in doorways, and makes for great laughs when you’re holding your annual Christmas party. You can tie bows anywhere – the backs of chairs, on doorknobs, the corners of your tablecloth – and indoor Christmas lights don’t belong just on your tree or around your windows.
You probably put up your Christmas tree in your living room or family room. This season, keep your eye out while shopping for small Christmas trees, and consider putting these smaller trees in other rooms in your house. For example, if your front foyer is large enough, a small decorated tree there makes a perfect Christmas greeting for visitors. A small potted live Christmas tree in your downstairs bathroom will really brighten things up.
One wonderful thing about using smaller trees in other rooms in the house is that it allows you to play around with different color schemes suitable for different rooms – colors that you might not want to use on your main Christmas tree. Have you always pined for a tree decorated with blue and white ornaments only, but know that your kids would be very upset with that kind of “adult” look to the tree? Indulge yourself by buying a smaller tree for the den or the front room, and decorate it exactly the way you’ve always wanted!
It’s fun to decorate a house for Christmas. Keep this in mind and don’t try to make things too perfect. Enjoy the ritual of putting up your decorations, and when you’re done, turn off the living room lights, turn on the Christmas tree lights, make yourself a cup of hot chocolate or floral tea, and sink into your couch with your loved ones.

As our favorite winter holiday approaches it is time to begin thinking about Christmas decorating ideas. White Winter. Tie clusters of twigs together to make a base and spray silver. Add faux snow flocked evergreen boughs. Accent your snow white theme with any combination of items such as white lace ribbon, reindeer moss, cream artificial berries, walnuts and even hibiscus pods. You can even soak small twigs in bleach water overnight to turn them white and use them to decorate.

Christmas Balls. Fill your planter boxes with Christmas balls in all variety of sizes and complementary colors such as red with small amounts of gold. Glue the balls together to keep them from blowing away and help give a full look. Also incorporate some same colored strands of ribbon to provide additional flare.
Wrapped Window box. For easy decorating, try wrapping your window box with gift wrap paper. Complete the look with large ribbons, bows and even gift tags. For quilters try creating a quilt wrap for your box using leftover Christmas fabric.
Evergreen. Bring in the holiday charm by planting dwarf or small conifers such as Tsuga Canadensis. Accentuate your look with gold and deep purple berries and ribbons, pinecones, and other natural floral accents such as eucalyptus branches.
Metallic. Begin your look with a base of dusty miller combined with silver ornament, silver tinsel and silver ribbons. For holiday sparkle, incorporate some white lights, glitter and clear crystals into your design.
Fireplace Mantel. Begin this design by painting a brick pattern onto cardboard. Attach this design to the front of you box and decorate like a fireplace. Hang large stockings below the mantel, and incorporate Christmas cards affixed on top. Include large hanging garland, bows and broad pillar candles.
Hopefully these ideas will help you create a unique and beautiful Christmas window display. December 31st is the day we celebrate New Year‘s Eve, but that wasn’t always the calendar day it was celebrated in years past. Decorating your Christmas Table can be as expensive or as inexpensive as you want. If you are going to shop for items to use on your dinner table, be sure to set a budget. Even better, if you want to find bargains, either shop early or shop after Christmas for clearance sales.
1) To begin with, unless you have a really beautiful table top, you are going to want to find a table cloth. You can either purchase one already made to fit your table, or you can purchase fabric and make your own. It really is quite simple.
Measure the length of your table and add the amount you want for an overhang plus 1″ for seam allowance. Also measure width. Most fabrics come in widths of anywhere from 32″ to 60″.
2) The next items you will want are dinnerware, flatware (silverware), and stemware.
Dinnerware: There are tons of choices for holiday dinnerware on the market. You could choose a holiday pattern like these from Lenox:
Be careful though if you choose to use a pattern that you don’t make the table too busy or gaudy. With patterned dinnerware, you could keep the table cloth and napkins plain and keep the decorations to a minimum. You could also choose a plane pattern in a color that match your table.
Flatware or silverware: Flatware will also be an important part of your dinner table. Again, there are many choices on the market for flatware.

Something that intriques me greatly is the use of recycled glass for stemware. In a world where “Going Green” is a household word, using 100% recycled glass stemware just makes sense.
Of course using what you have is always an option. Just be sure to match your table cloth, napkins and decorations to your dishes if they are patterned or a certain color. Now days it is easy to find Christmas decorations in every color.

Though the real pine centerpieces are beautiful, there are a couple of words of warning:
Be sure that your guests do not have allergies to pine as pine can have a strong scent, especially when it has become warm.
Be sure that you keep water in your centerpiece. There is floral foam in the center which absorbs water to keep each stem wet.
It is a good idea, if you purchase your real pine center pieces early in the season, that you try to keep them in a cool place, at least part of the time.
The idea is that you have a fresh, beautiful, decoration on your table the day of your dinner party.
Candles are a great way to add warmth and sparkle to you table. Place candles on mirrors for extra brilliance.
Add metallic garland around the table or use the packaged metallic icicles to create even more shimmer.
