I agree with the disappointed reader from Seattle. I too found this book stuffed with mediocre out-takes from the middle-brow Better Homes and Gardens magazine. It’s hard to read and a graphic mess. Those glowing reviews must all be from relatives and close friends!

Ironically, there is not much that is “new” in the “New Decorating Book.” Anyone who is hoping to find inspiration or fresh ideas is better off buying the magazine or another book. After reading it, I felt as though I had been duped by the “All-New Edition” title.

If you have thousands and thousands of dollars to spend on decorating you might find something worthwhile in this book. I don’t. Too bad this book doesn’t offer budget-conscious people like me any ideas.

Yes! A home dec book that shows the best of new, clean design yet avoids cold, sterile & unlivable environs. You can live in these rooms–leave a book on a table, a magazine on the sofa–without destroying the ‘look.’ May replace the popular, top-rated “Inspirations” by Waverly as my #1 pick.
