Today, people in Western-based cultures refer to December 25 as “Christmas.” However, a look into the origins of Christmas reveals its Pagan roots. Emperor Aurelian established December 25 as the birthday of the “Invincible Sun” in the third century as part of the Roman Winter Solstice celebrations. Christmas customs are an evolution from times long before the Christian period — a descent from seasonal, pagan, religious, and national practices, hedged about with legend and tradition.

Their seasonal connections with the pagan feasts of the winter solstice relate them to ancient times, when many of the earth’s inhabitants were sun worshipers. As the superstitious pagans observed the sun gradually moving south in the heavens and the days growing shorter, they believed the sun was departing never to return. To encourage the sun’s return north (i.e., to give the winter sun god strength and to bring him back to life again), the sun gods were worshiped with elaborate rituals and ceremonies, including the building of massive bonfires, decorating with notable evergreen plants such as holly, ivy, and mistletoe, and making representations of summer birds as house decorations.

The winter solstice, then, was the shortest day of the year, when the sun seemingly stood still in the southern sky. Observing the slowdown in the sun’s southward movement, and its stop, the heathen believed that their petitions to it had been successful. A time of unrestrained rejoicing broke out, with revelry, drinking, and gluttonous feasts. Then, when the pagans observed the sun moving again northward, and a week later could determine that the days were growing longer, a new year was proclaimed. This start of the solar year is a celebration of Light and the rebirth of the Sun. In old Europe, it was known as Yule, from the Norse, Jul, meaning wheel.

Not for real Christians

Christmas was not among the earliest festivals of the Church. It was not celebrated, commemorated, or observed, neither by the disciples of Jesus nor in the apostolic church not for at least the first 300 years of church history! They praised God that Jesus Christ had, indeed, come in the flesh. The day and the time of His birth had no relevance to them, because Jesus was no longer physically on earth. He had returned to heaven. And it was the risen, glorified Christ, whom they looked to by faith the extolled Lord of all.

Emperor Constantine after declaring Christianity the “state” religion Constantine forced all the pagans of his empire to be baptized into the Roman Church, as it was a need for true union between paganism and Christianity. As of the seventeenth of December until the twenty-third, Romans celebrated the ancient feast of the Saturnalia.

It was commemorative of the Golden Age of Saturn, the god of sowing and husbandry. In order to make Christianity palatable to the heathen, the Roman Church simply took Saturnalia, adopted it into Christianity, and then eventually many of the associated pagan symbols, forms, customs, and traditions were reinterpreted given new names (i.e., “Christianized”) in ways “acceptable” to Christian faith and practice. All this was done by man and not God.

God’s Warning

In Jeremiah, 10,1,8 God warns us to learn not the ways of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven:for the heathens are dismayed at them. For the custom of the people are vain: for one cutest a tree out of the forest, the labor of the hands of the laborer with the ax. And it goes on to say as you read to the 8th verse. However, they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities.

Amos 5-21,27 I hate; I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies. Tho ye offered me burnt offerings and meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offering of your fat beasts. Take away from me the noise of, thy songs; for I will not hear the noise of the viols.

Rev.17-1,2 And there came one of the seven angels, which had the seven vials, and talked with me saying unto me, Come hither I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters. With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. Speaking of that false doctrine she has spread in the earth;

Rev 18- 3,4 for all nations have been drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven saying, come out of her my people, that ye be not partakers of her sin, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

God’s Feast

If we look in [Lev.23-1,44], we find the Feast of the Lord, who God gave Moses to give all Israel and the stranger who would observe it rightly, which most Christians have no knowledge of. They say these feasts, were nailed to the cross with the law when Jesus died. Most preachers today say because they are now under the Grace of God, these Feast Gods has declared to be his don’t have to be observed.

Wrong, In the book of [Leviticus 23] you can read; it shall be a statue for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. Now how long is for ever? As long as there are people living a generation is in manifestation, and it is required of every Christian that names the name of the Lord to honor God’s feast days.

To prove to you that the feast days of God were not done away with notice what Paul said, Act_20:16 For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost. 1Co_16:8 But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost.

The feasts of God are, in effect, forever, it because of unlearned traditional preachers drunk with the wine of the fornication of the whore that sitteth upon many waters spoken of in [Revelation 17 chapter],this doctrine has come out of Rome, who has deceived the world with another Jesus [11Corth.11-4,13-15] that except pagan worship in the churches of God today. To say Jesus is the reason for the season is like taking The Holy Bible and sprinkle dog’s dung over it and give it to your mother and say God bless you.

There are two things working against you when you make a resolution.

Firstly, it’s much easier to continue with your current behaviour. People tend to be creatures of habit and find it difficult to change, especially if it’s something that they enjoy. Once something has become a habit you do it without even thinking about it. This can be helpful in a lot of situations as there are so many things you do every day without thinking about them, but it’s not helpful if you’ve created a habit that you don’t want.

Smokers will often automatically light up when they pick up the phone or when they have a drink in their hand because they associate those situations with smoking. Children who have been brought up to eat everything on their plate often still do the same as adults because it was drummed into them at an early age.

Secondly, the benefits of the resolution aren’t usually immediate so it’s difficult to maintain enthusiasm. The resolution you have made probably involves reducing or removing an activity that you get pleasure from and replacing it with something that initially appears unpleasant. When you have had a long day you know you feel more comfortable curled up in front of the TV rather than starting a new exercise regime. Resisting the chocolate bar or extra beer is not easy when you know how lovely it will taste. Socialising with friends gives more immediate pleasure than spending time looking for a new job or studying.

Here are some ways to get over these two problems and increase your chances of keeping your new year‘s resolution this year.

Start off by analysing the behaviour you want to change. It needs to be something that you want to do for yourself, not something that other people think would be good for you. That will increase your motivation.

Think about what you are currently doing (or not doing) that you want to change. What is your current habit or behaviour giving you? Think about what you would miss most if you changed your current behaviour. Can you just modify your current behaviour so you keep the benefits whilst still getting rid of the bad parts or do you need a complete change?

Then think about the driving force behind your resolution. Why do you want to make this change in your life? What will be the benefit to you? Think about how your life will be with this resolution in place. Write it down, draw it or tell someone about it. Make it real to yourself so you know that you do want it. Keep reminding yourself of that new lifestyle every day as it will make your motivation stronger and make the change easier.

Finally, think about ways of altering what you do so that habits don’t have the chance to pop up. If you are changing your diet then make sure there are no snacks close at hand or change your route home so you don’t walk past the takeaway shop. If you are stopping smoking think about alternative ways of taking a break or change your morning routine so you are doing something else when you would have had your first cigarette of the day. If you are saving money then make a shopping list so you don’t buy any unnecessary extras or make a new ritual of putting spare change in a jar every night.

It takes about four to six weeks to create a new habit so soon you will be automatically doing the things that decided in your new year‘s resolution.

It’s recommended for ages 2 and up, but I wouldn’t go past 6 years old.

#8 Let’s Rock Elmo by Sesame Street Elmo seems to be a huge hit every Christmas, but this year I think he’s going to be even more popular. This time, he comes with a microphone, a tambourine and a drum set. What’s really cool is that he interacts with other Let’s Rock instruments(sold separately). He knows when you are playing any of the Let’s Rock instruments (guitar, keyboard or microphone) and starts playing with you. He also sings 6 songs. Personally, I like this toy better than the Rock Star Mickey, but it boils down to who your child loves more.

#9 Lalaloopsy Silly Hair Doll It seems like all of the Lalaloopsy dolls will be popular this Christmas, but I believe the Silly Hair Doll versions will be extra popular. I was once a wee lass and the main thing I loved about my dolls was the ability to play with their hair. Lalaloopsy doesn’t have the typical Barbie doll hair. The strands are thicker, bendable rubber so you can twist, curl or straighten them. Includes hair accessories and a pet with a bendable tail. I really like these dolls! I think they are creative and a nice change from the stereotypical girl’s doll.

Day Two: Bring your towel on the second day of your holiday in Malaysia and retrace your steps into town and the ferry port where you can get a ferry out to the islands of the Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park. Day Three: Fly to Sandakan. While Kota Kinabalu has the scenery, Sandakan has the wildlife, most fascinatingly the Orang utans at Sepilok and the turtles of Turtle Island Park, and one of the main reasons people want to take their holidays in Malaysia.

Day Four: The marine sanctuary of Turtle Island is an overnight stay. They can only accommodate very small groups, but in the evening you’re there to welcome the mother turtles on to the beach as they lay their eggs, then able to release some of the babies from a clutch laid 60 days earlier. The accommodation is pretty basic, the food isn’t breathtaking, but getting a kiss a baby turtle on its shell just after it’s dug its way out of its nest before it scuttles down the beach to the sea is something indescribable and well worth planning a holiday in Malaysia around.

Day Five: The amazing and ancient turtles aren’t the most famous local inhabitants of this region: the Old Men of Borneo, as the locals call them, are. Living under difficult conditions, the orang utan’s habitat is shrinking, and as man encroaches we need to give them a little help. They get that at Sepilok, a conservation centre where orang utans are brought to be rehabilitated before being released into the wild. Visitors to the park get as close to them as they’re able to anywhere, when these furry jungle men come in for a feed and put on impromptu shows on the ropes and platforms around the feeding platforms. Animal lovers take note — it’s possible to volunteer at Sepilok, but you need to commit quite a bit of time and organise it well in advance.

Day Six & Seven: Divers won’t want to travel to this region without diving off Sipidan Island, which has some of the world’s best dive sites, but explorers may be more interested in visiting the Mulu, Gomantong or Niah Caves, renowned karst structures, Kuching for a bit of the lively culture of the place and the orchid garden, or for a unique cultural experience, a traditional longhouse community, so these last days of your holiday in Malaysia should be used up according to personal interest.
