I received this item as a shower gift & thought it looked like a wonderful “idea”. I used it mainly during the day so I could do some house work using both hands! The second time using the rocker I accidentally nudged it while picking up something from the floor & the rocker toppled forward. Not tipping over completely, thank goodness, but the fact that it is so high from the ground could have been a horrible fall. It’s a great idea to have it up high close to your bed, but with all the other sleepers out there I would NOT use this unsafe Rocker. I found it to be UNSTABLE!

Our son loves this sleeper. He has slept in it since we brought him home from the hospital. He sleeps about 4-5 hours each night in it and he’s 3 weeks old. My only wish was that FP made it so you could have it rock on it’s own with a timer. He likes the motion, but I get tired of rocking it myself. That’s my only complaint. Worth the purchase though.

My wife and I are sort of granola types (I’m a yoga teacher and she is a sculptor.) We started out determined to use only organic and eco-friendly stuff, basically we swore off Fisher-Price altogether. However, after two weeks of using a Amby Baby Hammock, which worked great and our baby loved it, we learned that the Amby Baby had been recalled. After doing some research, I discovered that more babies die every year in un-recalled cribs then had in the Amby Baby but when you go to the website and it says that the product has been recalled and that all customers should discontinue use and find alternate arrangements its hard not to head that warning. We are new parents and if we ignored it and something happened, we’d never forgive ourselves. While I was clicking around on the blogs, I came across another couple in the same situation who ended up buying and recommending this Fisher-Price Newborn sleeper. So, for fifty bucks, we figured it was worth a try.
Have to say that this a truly great product. Its not at all eco-friendly (perhaps the first of many compromises we will have to make) but it functions as advertised. It keeps are baby in a slightly angled upright position and rocks when she moves, providing much of the same features as a hammock, and is wonderfully portable and easy to move from room to room. We put it next to the bed at night and it serves as a co-sleeper/bassinet and then we put in the living room during the day for naps.
For the price, you can’t go wrong with this. I would definitely recommend it to others. As much as we are resistant to admit it, we gotta give Fisher-Price some props. Its worked great for us. Our baby is now two months old and in a few weeks we may transition to crib but, for now, the newborn sleeper is doing its job and we are grateful.

I love this little rocker. It is very lightweight and portable and the incline is perfect for my reflux cursed newborn. The rocking component is very basic and simple, but once he is asleep, no need for rocking.
I like the seat belt feature as it will make this purchase last a little longer than a few months.
He likes to sit in it as well as it gives him a better view than flat on his back
The reasons I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 are these….
1. I find it a little cumbersome to collapse (though maybe should be a pro for safety reasons, but I am thinking of my use)
2. I do wish it had a vibration feature of some automatic rocking button (but the simplicity I am sure keeps the price low)
All in all, I am happy with this purchase, but would not say it is a must have.

I’ve had this product for three nights. Each night, our 7.5 week old son has slept more soundly and for increasing longer periods. Prior to buying this, we were using an Arm’s Reach mini-cosleeper and he was waking up every night at 3:30am and 6 am. The first night in this he slept until 4:30am, then 5:30 and last night he slept from 9:30pm until 6am and after eating for 40 mins, went back to sleep until 10am. Woohooo!
Our co-sleeper worked well for our daughter (who was sleeping through the night at 8 weeks) and is another product I would highly recommend. However, our son seems to have more congestion and needs to be elevated to sleep well. We propped him up in the co-sleeper but he still tossed and turned and snorted and coughed, frequently waking himself up. I’ve always been disappointed with the products on the market for elevating sleeping babies, especially since the most effective options are not approved for sleeping. So, I was very excited to see this on display at Babies R Us. I did’t buy it right away. I checked on Amazon and the price was higher and it was not eligible for Prime shipping, so I went back to Babies R’ Us.
I should also add that we are still swaddling our son while he sleeps in this. He’s such a big and strong baby that the only swaddle blanket that works is the Miracle Blanket (another highly recommended baby product). With this blanket I can leave his legs out and still use the harness. It’s not really necessary but it’s better than having him sleep on the buckle. Without the swaddle his sudden arm movements disturb him. I expect however, that eventually we’ll use this without the swaddle.
The design of this product is very simple but it’s perfect for what we needed. I don’t know why it took so long to come to market. I can’t think of a better recommendation than a sleeping baby.
A few other points:
-it rocks very smoothly and easily
-has mesh on the side to allow for air flow
-seems comfortable, even for my big boy (he’s already 12+ lbs)
-is very light
-seems very stable
-is lower that our bed (a normal queen mattress with frame & boxspring) but its easy to look over and check on the baby from bed
