Product Description
The Boppin’ Beats Build-a-Band is a musical stacking toy that provides your baby with a lively and musically creative experience. It features four components: a keyboard with electronic percussion pads, a tambourine, a drum with rattle beads, and a friendly dancing monkey that plays the horn. Baby can play with each piece as a take-along musical instrument, or stack them together on the lighted base to build a musical band that plays 5 songs. In the Songs Mode, each instrument action plays a musical riff, followed by a song. The keyboard also plays a complete song. In the Instruments Mode, each keyboard stroke builds the piano part of the songs, while each other activity plays that instrument’s musical riff. Requires 3 “AA” alkaline batteries, included…. Bought this for my 4 mo. old son for Christmas (got it for a great price at Costco). He played with it a lot – loved it. His dad & I thought it was a wonderful toy, until it shorted out with no provocation after only about 1.5 months of use. We’ve tried to find a replacement, but seems it’s not for sale anymore. We are very disappointed and plan to return for a refund at Costco.

My in-laws bought this toy as a XMas gift for our 9 month old daughter. While my daughter loves the music, we quickly became concerned with it from a safety perspective. After about 2 weeks of use, the toy shorted out. We could smell a funny smoke odor coming from the base near the battery compartment, and the toy would no longer play music (it just whined and sounded like an old cassette tape stuck in a player. While the drum and tambourine are still functional for her to play with, they are heavy for a child’s toy, and can cause bumps and bruises unless you are VERY CAREFULLY watching your child.

My mom got this toy for my nieces and they both loved it. The oldest is now 12 and the youngest 5, so it lasted quite a few years and many stays at Nanny’s house and was ALWAYS a favorite. Their baby brother is starting to crawl now, and he likes it too. Unfortunately after many many years, it is wearing out, so I am buying a new one, and hope it will last through when I have children.

I got this for my daughter at 7 months. She like it, she enjoys things that light up and make noise. It is a bit heavy though. The peices are heavy and a bit bulky. You child can get hurt with any hard plastic toy while banging it, but this one seems a bit more riskier due to its size. I am not worried about them braking they are made pretty well. I haven’t had any problems with the shorting out though like other reviewers have said. This won’t be a toy that she is left to play with by herself. I didn’t hear about a recall on it, has someone else?

I gave this to my 10 month old grandaughter, she loved it! When she hit the piano keys, she started bouncing to the beat! All of the instruments, come off from the center post, and can be “played” seperate, then stacked up again for storage. She really enjoys it, and it appears to be well built like most Fisher Price toys are. I’m glade I took a chance and bought this with out ever seeing it in a store before. Keep on Dancin’ to the beat! Grandma Laurie
